A professional family-operated Vermont chartered fishing service, Raven Ridge provides fishing trips on the beautiful waters of Lake Champlain and Northern Vermont. Fish for bass, northern pike, and walleye on our 20' Center Console "Fishfinder."
Vermont has some great fishing! I specialize in fishing charters for smallmouth and largemouth bass, northern pike and walleye on Lake Champlain and many smaller, less pressured lakes and ponds. I also provide guided fishing trips to wild mountain streams and beaver ponds for native brook trout, and canoeing the bigger rivers for trophy browns and rainbows.
One of my favorite things in life is silently gliding across a glass smooth bay at dawn as the mist rises and the lonesome call of a loon echoes across the water.
A top water lure draws smashing strikes from feeding bass. We're having fun!
We are located in Northern Vermont just west of Jay Peak, near Montgomery (lodging link), "The Covered Bridge Town," home to many cozy B&Bs. This situates us within a short drive from Northern Lake Champlain (Google Map) and also the rivers and lakes of Vermont's Northeast Kingdom.
Many of our clients stay in St. Albans, just off I-89, 30 minutes north of Burlington (Vermont's largest city and home to Burlington International Airport), often at the Comfort Inn.
There is also some very nice lodging on North Hero (lodging links), which is part of the chain of large islands that divide northern Lake Champlain into the broad lake and the Inland Sea. This area is easily accessed by Route 2 off of I-89 north of Burlington, and is where most of the lodging with "dockside pick-up" (lodging links) is located.
A typical trip begins with a phone call "Toll Free 1-888-933-4616" to "talk fishing". I'll answer any questions you have and help you determine what lodging would work best. Then we'll book a date and arrange where to fish, depending on your desired species.
A follow-up chat a few days before your arrival will help us update any changes due to weather, cover any questions that may have come up, and arrange a time and place to meet.
Vermont Fishing licenses are available at most general stores and town clerk offices. Also online (Vt. Dept. of Fish & Wildlife)
Then we hope for a sunny day with a light breeze, and a good dose of "lady luck!"
My wife, Olga, and I live with our two sons on a small farm in Northern Vermont, where we raise vegetables and cut flowers for the local restaurants, and run a maple sugar operation. I grew up wandering these woods and waters, learning to outwit trout and bass, and tracking a variety of wild critters. This is my life long passion, and I take great pleasure in sharing what I've learned with others. I've been a professional fishing guide since 1995, and was named Vermont Guide of the Year in 1999.
I'll work hard to provide you with a safe, successful trip, whether you're a beginner or an old pro!
The outdoor world is an open book with many stories to tell and lessons to teach; we just need to learn to read the words.
